Travel plans

Having a nice quiet day in Nancy.

I've bought my ticket back to the UK (now that I'm finishing in France instead of Germany) - I'll be arriving in London on the 14th via Eurostar. I've also booked the hostel in Lille from the 11th.

Because of the odd way Eurostar charges, I've got a return ticket too; from the pricing scheme I suspect that they have an obligation to sell a set number of cheap journeys, and selling returns means that half are rarely used. Unlikely to use it, but there's the option of returning to France on May 6th and getting an overnight train. Probably cheaper to fly directly to Germany, but sleeper trains do effectively give an extra day for exploring.

Dijon has a park dedicated to celebrating Henri Darcy, the engineer who created their water reservoir system - the new bear icon is a statue in it.

Ed said I should let you know that we are reading your journal regularly and passing on info to Jock and Joan. It sounds like an excellent tour, keep enjoying yourself
